Who Services Older SunPower Solar Systems in Arizona?

Watt Masters can inspect, troubleshoot, and repair many existing SunPower solar systems in Arizona, including systems installed by another contractor.

The first step is identifying your particular equipment and determining what’s actually causing the problem.

That distinction matters because a “SunPower system” can include several components, and the service path can depend on when the system was installed, who installed it, how it was purchased or financed, and what equipment is actually on the home.

Watt Masters has served Arizona since 1999 as an electrical contractor with extensive solar experience.

We’re not here to sell you another solar system simply because the company situation changed.

You already have solar. Our job is to find out why it isn’t working correctly.

What Happened to SunPower?

There’s quite a bit of confusion around this question.

The original SunPower Corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on August 5, 2024.

During the bankruptcy process, Complete Solar acquired certain SunPower assets. That transaction closed on September 30, 2024 and included assets associated with businesses such as Blue Raven Solar, New Homes, and the non-installing dealer network, along with the SunPower brand and intellectual property.

Complete Solar subsequently adopted the SunPower name.

So there is a company operating under the SunPower name today.

But that doesn’t mean every older SunPower customer’s system, warranty, lease, PPA, or service obligation simply transferred to the new company.

That’s where the installation date becomes important.

Image

Was Your SunPower System Installed Before September 30, 2024?

This is one of the most useful things for a legacy SunPower customer to know.

The current SunPower organization states that its acquisition of selected assets from the former SunPower Corporation did not include interests in customer PPAs, leases, solar systems, batteries, or other equipment installed on or before September 30, 2024.

That can leave owners of older SunPower systems unsure where to turn when something fails.

If your older system needs actual solar or electrical service, Watt Masters can help evaluate the equipment and determine what’s happening.

That can include:

  • Solar system troubleshooting
  • Inverter and microinverter diagnostics
  • Electrical testing
  • Wiring and connection problems
  • Breaker and disconnect issues
  • Solar monitoring problems
  • Production loss
  • Panel and array inspection
  • Solar removal and reinstallation for roof replacement
  • Repair or replacement of failed components when appropriate

SunPower System Not Producing?

A system that suddenly stops producing doesn’t necessarily need to be replaced.

The problem could be relatively isolated.

Depending on the system and equipment, possible causes can include:

  • Inverter or microinverter failure
  • Electrical faults
  • Failed breakers
  • Loose or damaged connections
  • Communication problems
  • Monitoring equipment failure
  • Damaged wiring
  • Individual module problems
  • Utility-side or interconnection issues
  • Roof or weather-related damage

SunPower Inverter & Microinverter Troubleshooting

If your SunPower system is showing an error, isn’t producing, or has unexpectedly dropped in output, the power electronics are one area that may need to be investigated.

Different generations of SunPower systems can use different system architectures and equipment.

That’s why “SunPower inverter repair” isn’t always as simple as ordering a particular inverter based on the SunPower name.

The technician needs to identify what’s actually installed.

  • Checking inverter or microinverter status
  • Reviewing available error codes
  • AC electrical testing
  • DC testing where applicable
  • Breaker and disconnect inspection
  • Connection and conductor inspection
  • Communication troubleshooting
  • Production testing
  • Monitoring review
  • Identifying failed components

My SunPower Monitoring Stopped Working. Is My Solar Down?

Not necessarily. A monitoring problem and a production problem aren't always the same thing. Your solar system may still be generating electricity even if the app or monitoring portal stops displaying data. On the other hand, loss of monitoring can sometimes be the first indication of an equipment, communications, or electrical problem.

Depending on the system, service may involve:

  • SolarEdge inverter diagnostics
  • Fault-code troubleshooting
  • Optimizer troubleshooting
  • DC and AC electrical testing
  • Breaker and disconnect inspection
  • Wiring and connection testing
  • Monitoring and communication troubleshooting
  • Inverter replacement when necessary
  • System recommissioning after repairs

Don’t assume a dead-looking SolarEdge system means the entire solar array has failed.

The panels may still be perfectly usable.

Is My Old SunPower Warranty Still Valid?

Watt Masters Does Not Assume SunPower Warranties

Watt Masters is an independent contractor.

We don’t assume the warranty, contractual, financial, or other obligations of the former SunPower Corporation or current SunPower Inc.
What we can do is diagnose the system, identify the equipment involved, and give you a clearer understanding of what has failed and what the repair may require.

This requires a more careful answer than simply saying yes or no.

SunPower systems can involve several different types of warranties and contractual relationships.

Legacy SunPower Workmanship or Service Coverage

If your warranty or service obligation came directly from the former SunPower Corporation, the company’s bankruptcy and subsequent asset sale may affect that coverage.

The current SunPower organization specifically distinguishes older installations from systems installed after its September 30, 2024 acquisition.

Manufacturer Warranties

Individual components may also have manufacturer warranty coverage.

Whether coverage remains available depends on the particular product, installation date, manufacturer, warranty terms, cause of failure, ownership history, and other requirements.

What About SunPower Maxeon Solar Panels?

Some older SunPower systems use the company’s well-known high-efficiency solar panels.

There’s another distinction worth understanding here.

SunPower Corporation and Maxeon Solar Technologies became separate companies in 2020. Maxeon continued manufacturing SunPower-branded panels for a period following that separation.

As a result, the company name on your original solar contract doesn’t necessarily tell you who manufactured or warrants every component on the roof today.

If you’re trying to determine warranty eligibility for an existing panel, start with the actual equipment.

Useful information can include:

  • Panel manufacturer
  • Panel model number
  • Serial number
  • Installation date
  • Original contract
  • Original warranty documents
  • Proof of purchase or ownership

Need Help With Your SunPower System?

We're here to help.

Common SunPower Solar Problems We Can Troubleshoot

Solar System Not Producing

We'll determine whether the issue involves the inverter, microinverters, electrical equipment, wiring, communications, or another component.

Unexpected Drop in Solar Production

A significant unexplained production decrease deserves investigation, particularly when your electrical usage hasn't changed.

Inverter or Microinverter Faults

We'll identify the equipment and troubleshoot the fault rather than assuming every error requires complete replacement.

Monitoring Problems

We'll help distinguish between a monitoring problem and an actual production problem.

Electrical Problems

Solar systems contain breakers, conductors, connections, disconnects, grounding, and other electrical infrastructure that can develop faults.
This is where having an experienced electrical contractor matters.

Roof Replacement

Need to replace the roof under an existing SunPower array? Watt Masters provides solar panel removal and reinstallation for roofing projects.

Storm or Weather Damage

Phoenix heat, monsoon winds, dust, and severe weather can expose problems with older solar equipment, wiring, attachments, and roofing.

System Inspection

If you inherited an older SunPower system or aren't confident that yours is operating correctly, an inspection can establish what equipment you have and whether the system is functioning as expected.

Why Watt Masters for Titan Solar Repair?

You don’t need someone to sell you solar. You already have it.

You need someone who understands how to troubleshoot the system that’s already installed.

Watt Masters has served Arizona since 1999 as an electrical contractor with solar expertise.

That means we look beyond the panels.

Depending on the problem, we can evaluate:

  • Solar electrical wiring
  • Inverters and microinverters
  • Electrical panels
  • Breakers and disconnects
  • Connections
  • Conduit
  • Grounding
  • Monitoring
  • Production
  • Existing solar equipment

And because we service existing systems, Watt Masters can work on solar we didn’t originally install.

That’s particularly valuable for homeowners caught between an old installer, a manufacturer, a financing company, and a system that simply needs to work again.

Watt Masters provides independent solar troubleshooting and repair for existing systems throughout our Arizona service area.
